Hello and welcome to my Web site.

Last year, I was elected to the State Senate – but we made history. Together, we faced down the most fabled political machine in the country. Together, we made sure that the idea of progress won over partisanship. And together we made one giant step toward our vision of a stronger, safer, and more affordable Long Island .

For that, you all have my undying gratitude.

Now we have to do it again.

I have worked hard since my election to make sure that everyone in this district had their voices heard. I have worked across the aisle and with my conference to advance some great ideas about how to improve New York and once again make it the Empire State.

However, many challenges still lie ahead. Our schools need to be fully funded, our business climate needs to be fertile so companies can grow and thrive, and we need to ensure that middle class families can afford to live here and our seniors can afford to stay in their homes.

And on top of that, there are those who have a vested interest in making sure that progress in Albany is stifled and that its dysfunctional status quo is preserved. They will do everything in their power to reach this goal.

With your help, I know we can finish the job.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Craig Johnson
State Senator, 7th District

Feminist icon adds voice to Johnson's pay-gap bill
A National Academy of Sciences report on pay inequity found that up to half of wage disparity between men and women was not explained by differences in factors such as education or experience.

"This is outrageous," said Craig Johnson, D-Port Washington, the bill's Senate sponsor. "It is tragic that we claim to be in a progressive state, yet we have not remedied this tremendous wrong."
Senator Johnson introduces the Main Line Community Empowerment Act
"It is unconscionable to ask these communities to host the Third Track and shoulder the negative affects that will come with this project without having any say in the process," Johnson said. "This legislation will leave the MTA/ LIRR no choice but to listen to the concerns and recommendations of the residents who live in the Main Line Corridor. I am urging the Republicans in this current Senate Majority to with join me in making sure that these residents' voices are heard."
